Principal Singing Teacher/Manager
If you become an Amaranth student, Allison is the teacher with whom you
will have the most contact. She is the school's singing teacher. She will
work with you in all your lessons, and prepare all your lesson plans.
Allison also leads most of Amaranth's workshops and concerts, and she
directs our annual production.
Qualifications & Experience
She is a fully-trained singing teacher who over the past nine years has:
- Taught singing in both metropolitan and regional areas of South Australia;
- Worked as a Singing Teacher, Administrator and Manager at Adelaide-based
Singing Studios;
- Formed and directed a choir for adult, amateur singers;
- Worked as a tutor at a university residential college, and;
- Taught After School Italian Language and Culture classes at St. Joseph's
Memorial School.
Allison
is an an experienced performer who, in the 2001 Adelaide Eisteddfods,
won first and second prize for French and English Art Song categories
respectively. She performs regularly with distinguished Russian guitarist
and fellow Amaranth teacher, Alexei Filinkov at events such as:
- The Art Gallery of South Australia's Benjamin Britten Affair (2001);
- The University of Adelaide's Celebration of the 700th Anniversary
of Dante's La Divina Commedia (2000);
- The Little House - A Recital of Brazilian and English Folk Song in
the Adelaide Fringe Festival (2000).
Allison has stage experience in theatre, opera and musical theatre including
roles:
- The Singer, 'Look Back in Anger', Red Chilli Theatre (May 2006);
- Rosie Probert, Mrs Dai Bread 2, Mrs Willy Nilly, Third Woman, 'Under
Milk Wood: A Play For Voices', Red Chilli Theatre (April 2005);
- Aldonza, 'Man of La Mancha', Marie Clark Musical Theatre (October
2004);
- Elizabeth Bennet, 'Pride and Prejudice', Marie Clark Musical Theatre
(October 2003);
- Tuptim, 'The King and I', Marie Clark Musical Theatre (May/June 2003),
and;
- Hodel 'Fiddler On The Roof', Marie Clark Musical Theatre (June 2002).
Allison has sung with choirs including Procanto (1995 - 8) and the Monteverdi
Singers (2001).
