Teaching students aged 7 to 27

 

A Break-down showing the way a typical One Hour Lesson may run is provided below. It is only a general example showing the types of activities that students may expect to encounter in lessons. Each actual lesson is not strictly broken down and confined to the time-frames and topics listed below, but will vary within and beyond this plan such that each student's most current and relevant goals are best able to be met.



5 - 15 Minutes


Welcome/Discussion/Administration

5 - 20 Minutes

Introduction to new ideas or techniques OR
Review and consolidation of old ideas and techniques in any of the following areas:

  • Vocal Technique
  • Performance Technique
  • Vocal Science
  • Musicianship and Artistry
  • Performance Event Planning and Protocol
  • Aural
  • (Theory if requested)
  • (Sight-singing if requested)

5 - 20 Minutes

Vocal Warm-up and Technical Exercises in any of the following areas:

  • Vocal Technique
  • Performance Technique
  • Musicianship and Artistry
  • Performance Event Planning and Protocol
  • (Aural if requested)
  • (Theory if requested)
  • (Sight-singing if requested)

10 - 40 Minutes

Song Familiarisation OR
Application of Technique and Artistry to songs

 

Students are advised to arrive at the studio 5-10 minutes early in order to settle and focus themselves ready for lesson.
