Depending on each individual student's needs and goals, the first 2 -
5 lessons of their first term are typically devoted to their better acquaintance
with the studio and with Allison. In these lessons, Allison gains a greater
insight into each student's nature and needs, and begins to teach some
fundamental technical concepts essential to singing.
In the first 2 - 5 lessons:
- Students usually start to learn about several fundamental technical concepts
and WHY they are useful to healthy and tuneful singing.
- Students start practising HOW each fundamental technique is applied, by
isolating them from each other, and using them in basic exercises.
- Students cover many different songs in contrasting styles and forms without
yet applying technique to the songs.
- Allison becomes better acquainted with each student's unique personality,
their preferences, and perhaps most importantly, their pre-existing vocal strengths
and weaknesses so that she is then able to devise an initial Learning and Development
Plan for that student. For Beginners, the initial Learning and Development
Plan typically covers the student's Learning Goals for the period
of a year, in any of the following areas:
- Vocal Technique;
- Performance Technique;
- Exercises;
- Songs, and;
- Performance Events.
After a students' initial Learning and Development Plan is devised,
he/she works in lesson with Allison towards achieving the goals set out
within it. |
